Saturday, March 23, 2025 three guild members – Wendy, Amy, and Jane – co-starred at storytime at the Martinez Library. The book was Charlie Needs a Cloak, by Tomie DePaoli, a story about how wool from sheep can be turned into fabric for clothing. The guild members brought a variety of wool fleece (washed, carded, batt, dyed and undyed), spinning wheels and spindles, and a loom to augment the book’s story. After the story, they demonstrated carding, spinning and weaving for the children who attended the event. - [Dye Day 2023](https://treadlestothreads.org/dye-day-2023/): Please RSVP to info@treadlestothreads.org if you are planning to attend (if you have signed up on the clipboard, we have your name). We commented on the number of neps in this wool – not unusual in the wools we have sampled, but notable in any case. While discussing, Sheila and Jane wondered how a round of combing or carding might affect the wool. (We had been told that carding would just make the neps worse). We decided to embark on a Science Experiment – A Science Fair project almost.
