Dye Day 2024 has been organized and we are ready to invite you to join us for a great, colorful day…..
What: Treadles to Threads Dye Day
When: July 13, 2024
Time: 10 am – 1 pm (this may change if the weather is hot)
Where: Wendy’s House
This year’s topic: Celebrating Nancy Bates Designs
We will dye yarn to knit the beanies in her books, Knitting the National Parks and Knitting California, as well as her many online beanie patterns. She has over 100 hat patterns to choose from!
Cost: $33 plus $5 for the purchase of the beanie pattern of your choice on Ravelry or nancybatesdesigns.com if you do not already own it in one of her books
Includes one skein of Kona Worsted yarn (420 yards 100% super wash merino wool) and all supplies needed to dye it
What to do before Dye Day:
- Select one of Nancy Bates patterns from one of her wonderful books or directly from her website or on Ravelry
- Pick up yarn from Wendy (I will email everyone when the yarn arrives from Dharma)
- View your hat pattern online and/or print it out to determine how to separate your one skein into the lengths needed for your pattern
- Separate yarn into appropriately length skeins defined by the pattern you selected
- Tie skeins loosely in many places (at least four loose ties)
What to bring to Dye Day
- Skeins separated and loosely tied as described above
- Lunch and a drink
- Project to work on in the extra time
- T shirt for Dye Day logo if you want (see below)
Instructions will be given on Dye Day on how to select the appropriate dyes and apply them to your skeins. You will be dyeing each of your skeins! This is the fun part!!!
Bonus: You can purchase a Dye Day T shirt iron-on logo, specially designed for Dye Day by A.I. and modified by Wendy, of a National Park simulated emblem. Please pre-order one from Wendy if you are interested so you can weed it and iron it on to a shirt that you supply on Dye Day. Cost $5 each
RSVP to Wendy by Sunday, June 30 if you would like to attend!
Hope you can come and enjoy another wonderful Dye Day with us!
