Description: This workshop will provide an overview of how to approach the spinning of art yarn. We will learn several easy to moderately difficult techniques and how to combine them to create beautiful yarns. We will cover such things as Spinning a Thick and Thin Yarn, the Wrapping Technique, Adding Beads and Other Objects to Your Yarn, Lock Spinning, and more as time allows. We also will explore some of the ways to approach the designing of art yarns to make them unique and one of a kind. This workshop includes a generous supplies package, as well as a table of extra goodies to share!
What to bring to the workshop?
Your spinning wheel – the larger the orifice the better for art yarn spinning, though we can make any size work.
Hand carders may be useful.
A notebook to take notes, though I will provide a handout.
There will be lots of materials provided in the class and there will be extra goodies to share too!
