Treadles to Threads
Spinning at Rodgers Ranch

We were spinning at Rodgers Ranch on Sunday from 11 am – 3 pm Sunday, July 27, 2025 to celebrate the last day of the Tour de Fleece. Ten of us spun in the ‘parlor’. We had three drop spindles, and surprisingly, the other seven people had seven different spinning wheels. It was a beautiful day at the Ranch. Rodgers Ranch315 Cortsen RdPleasant Hill

Charlie Needs a Cloak

Members of the spinning guild helped present at Storytime at the Martinez Library. Saturday, March 23, three guild members – Wendy, Amy, and Jane – co-starred at storytime at the Martinez Library. The book was Charlie Needs a Cloak, by Tomie DePaoli, a story about how wool from sheep can be turned into fabric for clothing. The guild members brought a variety of wool fleece (washed, carded, batt, dyed and undyed), spinning wheels and spindles, and a loom to augment the book’s story. After the story, they demonstrated carding, spinning and weaving for the children who attended the event.
