We are an informal but active spinning guild that welcomes new and experienced spinners, as well as those who want to learn to spin. We meet at the Ygnacio Valley library in Walnut Creek each month.
We meet on the last Wednesday of each month, August – November and January – May. Most meetings feature a presentation of interest to spinners. Unless otherwise announced, meetings are held at the Pleasant Hill Senior Center, 233 Gregory Lane, Pleasant Hill at 7:00PM. Non-members may attend one meeting before joining the guild
Spinning groups for members are held on Mondays at 1:00PM at different members homes, and Friday evenings at 5:30pm.

A Very Brief History
Treadles to Threads began in 1990 when a group of friends began to get together to spin. by 1992, the group applied for membership as a guild in Conference of Northern California Handweavers (CNCH).
Now we have about 40 members.
Through the years the Guild has often been invited to participate at public fiber arts demonstrations, to local schools to teach the children about spinning, and to various local museums. The Contra Costa County Fair has been a great place to put up a yearly booth and sit and demonstrate our craft to visitors.
For several years, a group has brought spinning wheels and spindles to spin at the Forest Home Farms, a San Ramon City Park, on their shearing day. Visitors observe, ask questions, and children have an opportunity to try spinning themselves.
Spinning Wheels and Spindles
September 2023, the membership was surveyed to see what spinning wheels and spindles we had. Fun fact: the respondents had an average of 10 spindles apiece, though one person had none, and one person had over 50! See the full summary HERE
